Oh yeah, I’m suppose to be going to see them soon.  I better check about those tickets.

A friend and I went to this “ranch” outside Charlotte where we were accosted by some very pushy bulls.

Favorite Album Friday

The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place - Explosions in The Sky (2003)

Formed in Texas, Explosions in the Sky have been around since 1999, and there is a pretty good chance you have heard their music, at least in part.  If you watched the Friday Night Lights  movie you would know know them, because they created the soundtrack.  ”Your Hand in Mine” specifically, was changed to fit into the soundtrack.  Besides that, their music has been used in almost everything: commercials, TV shows, documentaries, and movies.  It’s a shame they don’t get any radio time.

The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is their third studio album and, like all the others, it is instrumental only.  There are 6 separate tracks on the CD, but for all intent and purposes, you can treat them as a single piece since the end of one track serves as an introduction to the next and listening to them out of order just sounds weird.  TEINACDP is also a concept album.  The band says it is an attempt at love songs, but the music is so expressive and expansive it could fit almost any mood.  It is one of the albums I turn to frequently.  At times inspiring and other times depressing, it never fails to leave me with a feeling of catharsis.

I don’t listen to much instrumental music, but Explosions in the Sky, and The Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place, is sprawling, orchestral, and just breathtaking.  Pure escapist music.

Batches and Cookies - Lizzo feat. Sophia Eris

Someone please save me from listening to horribly sad music and being mopey around the house.  Apparently I am a teenage girl.
